Reciclar es barato y ecológico pero si además obtenemos como resultado algo único y bonito, se convierte en una experiencia súper gratificante.
Cuando vi por primera vez las velas perfumadas de Mercadona (1), esas que vienen en un vaso de cristal, lo primero que pensé fue en como darle uso al vasito cuando se terminase la vela. Por supuesto, quería que siguiese siendo un portavelas, pero me apetecía que tuviese algo distinto, que no fuese tan soso. Así que decidí grabarla con ácido y ponerle unas estrellitas.
El proceso es muy simple:
1º – Se lava el portavelas quitando cualquier residuo de cera que quede. (2)
2º – Luego se distribuyen las estrellas de la plantilla por toda la superficie, recortándolas y pegándolas en el cristal pasando un lápiz por toda la superficie. (3)
3º – A continuación, con un palillo se cubre de ácido la zona interior de la plantilla con cuidado de no salirnos, ya que donde caiga el ácido se quedará una marca.
4º – Por último, una vez que pase el tiempo indicado en el producto se lava el cristal con agua y con jabón para quitar los restos de plantilla.
El resultado es único y el proceso puede servir para grabar cualquier otra cosa como iniciales en unas copas de vino.

Recycling is cheap and ecologic but if you get something nice and unique by doing it, it becomes a gratifying experience.
When I first saw the perfumed candles of Mercadona (1), those which come with a glass, the first I thought was how I could give the glass a second use, once the candle was finished. I wanted to keep it as a candle holder, of course, but I was wishing to make it different, not so flat. So I decided to engrave it with acid.
The process is so simple:
1º – You have to clean the candle holder to free it of any wax left. (2)
2º – Then you have to distribute the stars through all surface, to cut them off the pattern and to stick them underlining them with a pencil. (3)
3º – You have to put carefully the acid at the intern zone of the pattern.
4º – Once the time indicated at the label passes, you have to clean the surface with soap and water to take all rest of the pattern.
The result is unique and the process can be used to engrave any other glass.
